Revitalising the Forth and Clyde Canal
Plans have been unveiled to transform a Glasgow canal side into a spectacular viewpoint over the city.
The dramatic designs have been drawn up for the area around the Speirs Wharf site. The development would include modern flats, as well as retail and leisure facilities. Project managers think with its elevated position above Glasgow, the site makes the most of Glasgow's skyline, but right now, they want to hear the views of locals.
Christopher Breslin from the Glasgow Canal Regeneration Project said: "A lot of the views from residents is to not lose the views of buildings already on the site, and to make the most of the site itself which has some of the most outstanding architecture in Glasgow. So we are trying to take the views from the site right out to the city. Some of the consultation we've done with local school kids and shown they want to retain it as a balcony for the city. So, we're trying to make the most of the place itself."
